Penghu

I visited PengHu, an aggregate of 7 or so small islands off the coast of Taiwan (still part of Taiwan), with my sister on my recent trip back to Taiwan. We took a guided 3-day tour to two of the PengHu islands: ChiPei and MaGong. My first impression is that PengHu is truly beautiful. ChiPei is still very well conserved. ChiPei's beach has white sand, crisp/clear tropical waters, and many tropical fish within feets into the water. It's definitely an ideal place for snorkeling. MaGong, the main island, is much more industrialized but it's full of good local food. If you go there, a must is the brown sugar cake and brown sugar ice. They will definitely make your mouth water. Another thing that's famous is the cactus icecream, of which i don't care for too much. The only downside to this place is that the hotels cannot compare to the quality that you can get in Taiwan island. Make sure you bring all the toiletry, including towels, if you travel to PengHu's smaller islands such as ChiPei. Don't worry though, at least the service is good and people are super friendly. Also, learn how to ride a moped before you make the visit. On the smaller islands, mopeds are the main source of transportation. ^_^ View some of PengHu's pix at: http://photos.dtwang.net/v/chungwen/PengHu/
